Consultative meeting of the State Ministry for Peace with members of the administrative board and committee heads of the Consultative Peace Loya Jirga

Abdul Salam Rahimy, Special Representative of the President and the State Minister for Peace, and Abdul Khaliq Balakarzai, Deputy Minister for Coordination of tribes of the State Ministry for Peace, met with a number of members of the administrative board and heads of working committees of the Consultative Peace Loya Jirga to discuss and get their views and proposals on the peace process.

In this consultative meeting, the participants shared their concerns, questions and suggestions about the peace process with the leadership of the State Ministry for Peace.

Emphasizing the importance of the role of the Consultative Peace Loya Jirga and that the members are elected, the present members said that they are the real representatives of the people from different strata and therefore they call for greater participation of this structure in the peace process. They also expressed satisfaction with the government's implementation of the 23-article Resolution of Consultative Peace Loya Jirga.

Participants in the meeting expressed support for the Afghan-owned peace process and promised to share their advice and views with officials in this regard. They also called on the government to facilitate more coordination and communication for the process.

Abdul Salam Rahimy, Special Representative of the President and the State Minister for Peace, expressed his gratitude for the presence of members of the administrative board and committee heads of the Consultative Peace Loya Jirga, and answered questions and concerns from the participants.

Pointing to the importance of the role of the Consultative Peace Loya Jirga in advancing the peace process, Mr. Rahimy said that the Loya Jirga is an effective means of communication with the people in every corner of the country and therefore it is able to include people's views on the peace process.

Mr. Rahimy also stressed that the Consultative Peace Loya Jirga was a turning point in the peace process and we will refer to this organ continuously until the end of the process.

The meeting was held following a series of consultative meetings of the State Ministry for Peace with different strata.
