Abdul Khaliq Balakarzai has been appointed as Deputy Minister for Coordination of tribes of the State Ministry for Peace (SMP)
The ceremony of introducing the deputy of State Minister for Peace in Coordination of tribes’ affairs was attended by Abdul Salam Rahimy, the President's Special Representative and State Minister for Peace and other government authorities and personalities.
Addressing the event, the President's Special Representative and State Minister for Peace called Abdul Khaliq Balakarzai a national figure who takes the important part of the peace process by including all tribes of people in the peace process and in supporting the national consensus by attaining their trust in the process.
Stressing that the vast majority of the nation wants peace, Mr. Rahimy said that the government is committed to bringing peace and the three-day ceasefire in the past is a good example of this will. He added that the government had a major role in the peace process.
Mr. Rahimy thanked the members of both chambers of the parliament for endorsing the ministry and said that the confidence vote exerts more responsibility on the state ministry for peace. He stressed that this ministry will seriously follow up on the peace process and will build public trust by acting based on practical national consensus.
Mr. Rahimy added that coordinating the activities of people, the government and the international community for peace and peace negotiation and also facilitating the process are among the responsibility that the State Ministry for Peace will hold.
Mr. Rahimy called upon the armed opposition to open the ground for peace negotiations. He reiterated that the peace will be materialized in the result of negotiation between Afghans and it is good that the current opportunity for peace is utilized.
Abdul Khaliq Balakarzai, the deputy minister of coordinating tribal affairs of the State Ministry for Peace (SMP) thanked the president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the State Minister for Peace for their confidence in him and promised to try his best in fulfilling his responsibilities with honesty and integrity. He said that widespread consultations with the elders, personalities and religious scholars across the country will be conducted and all the tribes will be coordinated towards achieving peace.
Mohammad Aref Norzai, the member of Wolesi Jirga called the peace as a demand of the whole nation and said that even the armed opposition of the government also want dignified peace. He said that peace will be restored with the attention of elders and with the coordination with the leadership of the government and the people.
