A Note of Gratitude to Parliament

The Wolesi Jirga or the lower house of the parliament of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has approved the formation of the State Ministry for Peace (SMP) as was initiated by the president’s decree No.33 of June 27, 2019 with 90 percent votes in favor.

I am sincerely thankful to His Excellency the Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga, deputies, administrative board and heads of commissions and other MPs for endorsing the ministry and the government's peace efforts.

This strong demonstration of consensus is a turning point in the peace process of Afghanistan, and will signal a more unified front in our collective endeavor towards achieving peace.

On behalf of my colleagues at the State Ministry for Peace, I commit to observing our national interests in the peace process and request the continuous support from the representatives of the people of Afghanistan.
