An online meeting of members of the Afghan Women's Network was held with the negotiating team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan
In order to share the views, suggestions and questions of women with the negotiating team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the online meeting was held in presence of Sharifa Zormati Wardak, member of the negotiating team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, members of the Afghan Women's Network (AWN) and Dr. Alema Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Civil Society.
Dr. Alema briefing about peace talks said that the Taliban delegation had intensified their violence instead of continuing to negotiate and seek peace, and that the people of Afghanistan and the world had come to the conclusion that Taliban were not committed to what they had promised.
She called the situation of women in areas covered by the Taliban worrying and said that people were not satisfied with the current situation; But the Afghan side wants to remain committed to continuing the peace talks, so a delegation from the Islamic Republic is still in Qatar. Dr. Alema also stated that the State Ministry for Peace, by creating specific platforms, has always provided the ground for holding meetings between different groups
Members of the Afghan Women's Network expressed their concerns about the role of different segments in the peace talks, saying the network called for the presence of war victims, Jogis, nomads (kuchi’s) and other ethnic and cultural minorities in peace meetings.
Sharifa Zormati Wardak, a member of the negotiating team, spoke about the ongoing peace talks and the meetings of the negotiating team with various groups, and said that the negotiating team has repeatedly stated its readiness to continue the negotiations.
Speaking about the agenda of the talks, she said that the Republic's side has put ceasefire at the top of the agenda and that efforts are being made to end the violence before any action is taken.
In response to these questions, Sharifa Zormati Wardak said that the policies and mechanisms of the negotiating team were created based on the opinions and demands of different groups.
She also said that a policy of ethnic participation in the negotiation process has been developed to ensure the presence and role of women, ethnicities and ethnic and religious minorities in the process.
Ms. Zormati said that the delegation of the Islamic Republic wants the victims and the family of the victims of the war to be present at the negotiating table so that the voices of the war victims can be heard in the negotiations from the both sides.
She pledged that the members of the negotiating team will fulfill their responsibility to ensure peace and the will of the Afghan people.
She also said that the members of the board emphasize on the implementation of the second chapter of the constitution and that the rights of all citizens are equal.
Regarding the delay in the talks, Ms. Zormati said that this process is requires a lot of patience and time.
At the end of the meeting, Laila Jafari, Head of Political Organizations and Civil Society Institutions of the State Ministry for Peace, presented the summary of the meeting.
