The State Minister for Peace Meets Russian Ambassador to Kabul
Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, State Minister for Peace and Member of the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, met with Mr. Dmitry Zhirnov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Kabul.
In this meeting, they discussed the ongoing negotiations in Doha, strengthening the regional consensus on peace, the role of countries in the region, especially Russia, in the Afghanistan peace process and the post-conflict Afghanistan perspective.
The Russian Federation’s ambassador stated about Russia’s position about peace in Afghanistan that the continuation of the war will not pave the way for peace; rather, it considers negotiations as the correct way to achieve peace.
Minister Sadat Naderi called Russia’s role in the Afghanistan peace process important and said that regional consensus is of particular importance for achieving peace in Afghanistan.
He further stated that Afghans want peace, and by ensuring peace, Afghanistan would play a key role in regional growth and development. He expressed hope that with the advent of peace in Afghanistan, Russian companies’ investment in Afghanistan will expand.
The State Minister for Peace called flexibility an essential principle in negotiation processes and said that the peace negotiations in Doha are also no exception to this rule.
