The preliminary meeting of the Academic Institutions committee for Peace Studies at the presence of Dr. Alema, Acting Minister and  Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Civil Society of the State Ministry for Peace and Nasser Siddiqui, Director General of Policies and Programs, Seyed Fahim Soroush Senior Advisor and Mohammad Yasin Mohseni, Head of Field Studies, it was held at the conference hall of the State Ministry for Peace with the participation of representatives of research institutions.

Dr. Alema, Acting Minister and Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Civil Society at the State Ministry for Peace, first spoke about the importance of the meeting, saying that to eradicate the culture of violence and produce knowledge of peace, extensive research is needed to promote a culture of tolerance, peaceful living, and tolerance. Emphasizing the need to work together to build peace knowledge, Dr. Alema said: "Since basic studies and research are needed to formulate policies and make peace plans, the State Ministry for Peace and Peace-Related Structures are considering a framework for comprehensive cooperation." Provided with research and study institutions.

Emphasizing the importance of the responsibility of academic institutions for the production of peace knowledge, she said: "There is no doubt that the causes and conditions of the conflict in Afghanistan are different from other countries; For this reason, there is a need for the discourse of peace to be nationalized and for the production of indigenous and local knowledge.

The Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Civil Society also said that the Ministry is working to establish a Committee of Academic Institutions for Peace Studies to establish cooperation and that this is the beginning of cooperation in the direction of research work.

Naser Sidiqi, director-general of policy and programs at the Ministry of Peace, said that academic institutions are designated addresses for producing knowledge of peace and conflict resolution; Therefore, the Ministry has taken the initiative to establish this committee.
He said that the purpose of establishing this committee is to use the capacity of research and scientific institutions and to establish coordination between these institutions and the ministry to create plans and programs related to peace and to advance the goals of the ministry.

Seyed Fahim Sorosh, Senior Advisor to the State Ministry for Peace, also said at the meeting that a study of peace processes in different countries shows that scientific research is needed to advance peace talks, and therefore the views and opinions of research institutions are important for drafting peace strategies.
Mohammad Yasin Mohseni, head of field studies at the State Ministry for peace, spoke about the preliminary plan to set up the committee, saying that the purpose of the committee was to include academic institutions, research centers, and researchers in the peace process, produce scientific content to advance negotiations and enrich the field.

The participants then welcomed the initiative of the State Ministry for Peace to establish this committee and shared their views and opinions.
Summing up the meeting, Mr. Mohseni said that all academic institutions would be members of the committee and that a technical committee would be set up after the representatives of the research institutes shared their views on how to work and how to structure it.
It is worth mentioning that 70 representatives from public and private universities and peace research centers participated in this meeting.
