Fatima Gailani, Member of the Negotiation Team, Participates in a Panel Discussion on Women’s Role in Peacebuilding

Fatima Gailani, Member of the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, attended and addressed an online panel discussion on “Recognizing the Role of Women in Peacebuilding: from Global to Local Levels” organized by the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS).
Mentioning the presence of proud women in the history of Afghanistan in various fields, Ms. Gailani, called the role of women in resolving different crises in Afghanistan as outstanding.
She said Afghanistan is a multi-ethnic country, and women of different ethnicities have played a significant role in resolving crises in Afghanistan in the past.
Ms. Gailani also called the active and conscious role of women in peacebuilding vitally important. She said that with the presence of women in peacebuilding, its implementation would be much more practical and ensure peace stability.
She said that women’s presence in politics is not an easy job and has many challenges, adding that Afghan women have shown the ability to face these challenges.
In this meeting, Fatima Gailani mentioned the importance of female religious scholars’ presence to ensure more stability in Afghanistan and emphasized women’s religious education in the country.
Highlighting the importance of Afghanistan’s young women’s voice in the peace process, she said that women want a meaningful peace in which they can live and have access to all their rights, including education and work.
