Participation of the Head and Members of the Negotiating Team in the Third Meeting for Strengthening Consensus in Support of the Peace Process

Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai, Head of the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and some members of the negotiation team participated in the third meeting on "Strengthening Consensus in Support of the Peace Process", held online by the Regional and International Affairs Commission (RIAC) of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR). The meeting was also attended by Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman of the HCNR, Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, State Minister for Peace and Member of the Negotiation Team, Hanif Atmar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, ambassadors and representatives of several countries and international organizations based in Kabul.
At the beginning of the meeting, Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, State Minister for Peace and Member of the Negotiation Team, emphasizing the continuation of the peace negotiations between the two sides, expressed concern about the continuation of violence in the country.
Referring to the strong commitment of the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to move the peace negotiations forward, Mr. Naderi spoke about the existence of a national and political consensus, as well as the support and cooperation of the international community to the peace process.
Emphasizing the role of the international community in supporting the country's security forces, the State Minister for Peace said: "There is a need for a common understanding on supporting the peace process that leads to a political partnership based on the demand of the Afghan people and the interest of our regional and international partners."
Welcoming the review of the Doha Agreement and assessing the parties' adherence to the provisions of the agreement, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman of the HCNR, said that there is a consensus at the domestic level in support of peace efforts, and joint efforts are being made to strengthen this consensus.
Dr. Abdullah further said that the escalation of violence and targeted killings are unacceptable to the people of Afghanistan, and the violence should be stopped soon.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar also spoke about the latest regional and international efforts of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to support the peace process.
Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai, Head of the Negotiation Team, expressed gratitude for Afghanistan's partner countries' support to the peace process, calling regional efforts for the success of the peace process effective and significant.
Emphasizing the negotiations' rational progress based on the Afghan people's priorities, Mr. Stanekzai said that during the negotiations, we showed that we can overcome the problems, and we must continue this process decisively.
Mentioning that the negotiation team members are working with a focus on the technical aspects of the negotiations, the head of the negotiation team said, as the several meetings of the team with Islamic scholars of the country and the Islamic world have had significant achievements, strict attention has also been paid to protecting the rights of different segments of society, especially women, war victims and minorities.
Mr. Stanekzai further stated that the negotiation team members are always ready to participate in Islamic discussions on related issues, adding that the female members of the negotiation team have also been able to establish effective contacts within the framework of large networks with women in Islamic countries around the world.
Recalling the need to strengthen the domestic and international consensus on the peace process, he called for greater coherence in international partners' message about the peace process and other issues related to Afghanistan, a fundamental and influential principle of the peace process.
The ambassadors and representatives of several countries and international organizations, participated in the meeting, also emphasized the continuation of peace negotiations between the two sides, and welcomed the consensus of Islamic scholars on the illegitimacy of the ongoing war in Afghanistan and spoke about the need for international support for this process.
They also stressed the importance of building a regional consensus to support the Afghanistan peace process, called the continuation of violence worrying, and emphasized the urgent need to stop it.
