Meeting of the Head and Members of the Negotiation Team with the Ambassadors of NATO Member States
Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai, Chief Negotiator of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and some members of the negotiation team spoke at an online meeting with the ambassadors and representatives of NATO member states.
The Afghanistan peace negotiations process was discussed during the meeting.
At the beginning, Mr. Stanekzai thanked the international community, especially NATO member states, for their support to the Afghanistan peace process and their emphasis on cessation of hostilities, saying that the peace negotiations process is not moving as fast as needed, and a ceasefire should be reached considering the demands of the Afghan people.
The chief negotiator also expressed his gratitude for the active and meaningful role of the female members of the negotiation team.
Members of the negotiation team spoke about NATO's cooperation in supporting human rights, women's and minorities’ rights, and the need to declare a permanent ceasefire.
During the meeting, ambassadors and representatives of NATO member states raised their questions about the peace process, and then the negotiation team members answered their questions.
At the end, NATO's Civilian Representative in Afghanistan, Stefano Pontecorvo, thanked the participants for their presence at the meeting and said that NATO is committed to supporting the Afghanistan peace process.
