Meeting of the Ulema Committee of the Negotiation Team with the leadership of the International Union of Muslim Scholars
Mawlawi Attaullah Ludin, Mawlawi Enayatullah Baligh and Mohammad Nateqi, members of the Negotiating Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, met today with Dr. Ahmad al-Raysuni and Dr. Al-Qaradaghi, leaders of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IAMS) in Doha.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the Afghanistan peace process.
The leadership of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IAMS) said that the current war in Afghanistan lacks religious legitimacy; therefore, it is necessary to seek a political solution to end the war. They added that in the current situation, immediate ceasefire is a religious obligation and that the parties to the negotiations should agree on this as soon as possible.
They also called the ongoing war in Afghanistan based on political differences, stating that Afghanistan's neighbors’ role in the peace process is fundamental.
Also, the leadership of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IAMS) called on the negotiating parties to patiently accelerate the peace negotiation process.
