The First Meeting of the Political Parties Contact Committee for Peace Was Held

The first meeting of the Political Parties Contact Committee was held in the presence of Dr. Alema, Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Civil Society of the State Ministry for Peace.
Dr. Alema, Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Civil Society of the State Ministry for Peace, said at the beginning of the meeting that the political parties had placed a grave responsibility on the shoulders of this committee. She added that the State Ministry for peace facilitates the contact committee to fulfill its responsibility.
She said, the purpose of establishing this committee and its joint meetings with the ministry is to gather the political parties' views and share them with the negotiating team.
The Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Civil Society stated that this committee could play an effective and important role in the peace process.
Meanwhile, members of the Contact Committee discussed the start of its activities and the related mechanism. They stressed the need to coordinate meetings, elect an administrative board and draft a bill of duties.
After voting by the committee members, chairman for the next meeting and two secretaries of the committee were elected.
Dr. Alema, Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Civil Society, pledged that the Ministry would provide the necessary facilities for the committee meetings.
At the end, Laila Jafari, Head of Political Organizations and Civil Society Institutions of the State Ministry for Peace summarized and concluded the meeting.
