The State Ministry for Peace Comprehensively Facilitates the Activities of Civil Society Organizations in Peacebuilding
Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, State Minister for Peace, in a meeting with the Secretariat of the Advisory and Coordination Board of Civil Society Organizations for Peace, said that the State Ministry for Peace Comprehensively facilitates the activities of civil society organizations in peacebuilding.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Alema, Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Civil Society of the State Ministry for Peace, spoke about the establishment of the Advisory and Coordination Board of Civil Society Organizations for Peace and the ministry's facilitating role for the board.
Abdul Rahim Jami, member of the Secretariat of the Advisory and Coordination Board of Civil Society Organizations for Peace, while appreciating the role of the ministry in the past, referred to the group activities of this board as well as the individual activities of 40 organizations. He added that the representatives of this board are active in seven zones and work is underway on the development of the board at the provincial level.
Mr. Jami said that the board works to consolidate the voice of the society, to connect that voice from across the country with peace structures, and to facilitate the participation of the people through civil society organizations in the peace process.
He further stressed the need for the board to be stable, saying that a mechanism has been developed to establish strategic and lasting bilateral relations between the board and peace structures, that if implemented, the civil society organizations would better play their role.
Other members of the Secretariat also shared their views on the capacity of civil society organizations in peacebuilding and cooperation for national solidarity.
The State Minister for Peace said at the meeting that the civil society is one of the most fundamental joint achievements of the government and civil society organizations in the last two decades. He added that the Islamic Republic's position in the peace negotiations also stems from the values of civil society, which the negotiation team defends.
Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi stressed the importance of implementing national programs in the field of peacebuilding, saying that the State Ministry for Peace includes structures of human rights, civil society and reintegration, and that work in this area is one of the ministry's priorities.
Mr. Naderi added that the State Ministry for Peace will comprehensively facilitate the activities of civil society organizations and will use the capacity of civil society organizations in various areas of peacebuilding planning.
