State Minister for Peace talked with European officials about the Afghanistan peace process
Abdul Salam Rahimy, Special Representative of the President and the State Minister for Peace, spoke in a video conference about the Afghanistan peace process with Roland Kobia, the European Union Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Pierre Albert Ilsas, Norway’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Gareth Bayley, the British Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Marcus Putzel, the German Special Envoy for Afghanistan, and some other European countries officials.
In this video conference, the political situation in the country, the exchange of prisoners, preparations for direct talks, and the need for regional and international support for the Afghanistan peace process at a forthcoming conference of donor countries, scheduled for November this year, was discussed.
Emphasizing the importance of an international consensus on peace in Afghanistan, the State Minister for Peace stressed the importance of the role of the European Union in this process and said that the Government of Afghanistan has always demonstrated its commitment to achieving sustainable and dignified peace for its people.
