The State Minister for Peace Participates in the Online Meeting of the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan with Special Representatives of NATO Member States
Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, State Minister for Peace and Member of the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, participated in the online meeting of the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan with special representatives of NATO member states, organized in partnership with the European Institute of Peace (EIP).
The meeting was also attended by Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai, Chief Negotiator of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and Abdul Salam Rahimi, Fawzia Koofi, Ahmad Nader Naderi, Mohammad Nateqi, Abdul Matin Bek and Kalimullah Naqibi, members of the negotiation team. The current status of the Afghanistan peace negotiation process was discussed during the meeting.
The participants discussed ending the ongoing violence and paving the way for a ceasefire, responsible withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan, and review of the Doha Agreement.
The special representatives of NATO member states condemned today's attack on the vehicle of the chief of staff of the State Ministry for Peace, saying that the current level of violence, especially targeting civil society members, women, the media and civilians, is not acceptable.
Meanwhile, members of the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, pointing out to the impact of violence on a meaningful atmosphere for negotiations, said that the voice of civil society and various segments of the society is effective in moving the peace process forward which must be maintained.
They called for the continuation of joint international efforts to support the negotiation process and the cessation of hostilities, saying that coherence of views would lead to progress in the process and that the messages of the Islamic World about the illegitimacy of the ongoing war should be taken into account.
