The State Minister for Peace Met with the Swedish Ambassador
Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, State Minister for Peace and Member of the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met with Swedish Ambassador to Afghanistan Torkel Stiernlöf.
The State Minister for Peace, while thanking Sweden for its assistance and cooperation with Afghanistan in the last two decades, praised the country's role in strengthening the core values of human rights and civil society.
Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi presented information about the Afghanistan peace process, the current status of the negotiations, the cessation of negotiations by the Taliban, as well as the role of the international community in the success of the negotiations.
The State Minister for Peace said that the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, as the elected government, deals responsibly with stopping the violence against civilians and progress of the negotiations, and the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is always striving for progress in the negotiations.
Mr. Naderi called the cohesion of the international community and Afghanistan's international partners important in moving the negotiations forward and the review of the Doha Agreement between the United States and the Taliban. He added that Afghanistan hopes that the cooperation of the international community will also continue after reaching peace agreements.
During the meeting, the Swedish ambassador said that the country supports an independent and democratic Afghanistan and will be part of the international community's long-term commitments to Afghanistan.
Emphasizing the opportunities available, Mr. Stiernlöf added that Sweden supports the cessation of violence, reaching an enduring ceasefire, and acceleration of the peace process.
He expressed hope that the progress of the peace negotiations would lead to a sustainable political agreement and achieving peace in Afghanistan.
