The State Minister for Peace Met with the Special Representative of China for Afghanistan
Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, the State Minister for Peace and member of the negotiation team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, met with Liu Jian, the Special Representative of China for Afghanistan, and Wang Yu, the Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan.
The State Minister for Peace commended the good relations between the governments of Afghanistan and China and said that Afghanistan attaches great importance to China's role in the success of the Afghanistan peace negotiations.
He expressed the commitment of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to move the peace negotiations forward and said that in the first round of the peace negotiations in Qatar, the agreement on the procedure of negotiations was achieved and in the second round, the agenda of the negotiations would be discussed.
Referring to the China’s "One Belt, One Road" initiative, Mr. Naderi added that the political stability of countries is a key issue for the implementation of economic development projects in the region; and therefore, the existing opportunities for stability should be used to the fullest extent.
The State Minister for Peace called an immediate ceasefire in Afghanistan as a fundamental demand of the people and said that the role of neighbors, especially China, is vital to strengthening regional and international consensus for peace.
China's Special Representative for Afghanistan said that Afghanistan's stability is of particular importance to China, and that is why the country supports reconciliation in Afghanistan and wants the Afghanistan peace negotiations to succeed.
Emphasizing the importance of a regional and international consensus on peace in Afghanistan, Mr. Liu Jian said that China is playing its part in this regard and will continue its development cooperation with Afghanistan within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" project.
