The State Minister for Peace Met with NATO's Senior Civilian Representative
Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, State Minister for Peace met with Stefano Pontecorvo, NATO's Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan.
NATO's support for the Afghanistan peace process, the progress of the peace negotiations in Doha, the forthcoming meeting of NATO defense ministers, the need for stopping violence and reaching a ceasefire were discussed during the meeting.
Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, while appreciating NATO's past cooperation, stressed the importance of the organization's role in moving the Afghanistan peace process forward.
Referring to the forthcoming meeting of NATO Defense Ministers, the State Minister for Peace said that the unified position of Afghanistan's international partners at various stages is one of the important components for the success of the negotiation process.
He also spoke about the role of the State Ministry for Peace in ensuring national consensus and the inclusion of politicians’ views in the peace process.
NATO Senior Civilian Representative, while expressing his views on the Afghanistan peace process, called internal consensus important for this process.
Mr. Pontecorvo also spoke about NATO's commitment to the Afghanistan peace process, calling it sustainable. He added that at this stage, it is necessary to stop the violence and reach a ceasefire.
