State Minister for Peace meets women’s activists
Some Afghan women’s rights activists in their meeting with the Special Representative of the President and the Minister of State for Peace, Abdul Salaam Rahimi, late on Sunday afternoon shared their concerns and suggestions on the peace process and the negotiations with the Taliban.
They stated that women were the main victims of the war, saying as the peace talks were about to begin, their rights and achievements should be preserved and protected.
The participant women from different sectors of the society expressed their support for the peace process and asked Rahimi to pay attention to women’s role while forming the government peace negotiating team in order to ensure Afghan women’s true voice in the talks with the Taliban.
Rahimi emphasizing on the importance of the role of women in national processes, especially peace, said that women had been the strongest at the front line for championing their rights and now they could play a significant role in the peace process as well.
He said that women's participation would not be ignored and that women's united voice was held in high regard.
