The State Minister for Peace Meets EU Head of delegation to Afghanistan
The Special Representative of the President and State Minister for Peace Abdul Salam Rahimy has met with Ambassador Pierre Mayaudon, the new European Union Head of Delegation to Afghanistan and his colleague Johan Sorensen, the Head of Political Section.
Both discussed the latest peace efforts and the government’s position about peace process.
Abdul Salam Rahimy said that ceasefire is the formal position of the government for starting peace negotiations with the Taliban.
He said that the role of EU in supporting the peace process was crucial for the people of Afghanistan and thanked the EU members for such support.
Mr. Rahimy further said that the State Ministry for Peace is working with different parts of the society, especially women on the district and province level to encourage their support for peace.
Mr. Pierre Mayaudon promised that EU will continue their support for a peace process led by Afghans. He also stressed on the importance of women role in the peace process.
