SMP’s top leadership meeting

The Special Representative of the President and State Minister for Peace Abdul Salam Rahimy has chaired the leadership meeting of the State Ministry for Peace (SMP).

Abdul Salam Rahimy discussed the Presidential Orders about the formation of the High Committee for Coordination of Peace Affairs and channelizing all activities related to peace through SMP.

The Special Representative of the President and State Minister for Peace said we are in a critical moment of history and the realization of the peace dream of the people depends on the perfor-mance of SMP. He added that peace without the collaboration of people is not possible and the policies of this ministry shall be prepared as per the people's demands and shall be implemented through coordinated efforts of different government institutions.

Abdul Salam Rahimy has added that the president, through a Presidential Order, has made the State Ministry for Peace the secretariat for the high committee for coordinating peace affairs and this committee should coordinate decisions in the different aspects of the peace process.

The High Committee for Coordination of Peace Efforts, chaired by the state minister for peace, has 14 members and reports to the President of Afghanistan about their activities. Worth of mention-ing that according to the presidential orders, all peace activities of the government should be through or in coordination with State Ministry for Peace (SMP).
