A peace process support group is set up consisting of Afghanistan's international partners
According to President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani's decree, the Afghanistan Peace Process Support Group has been established to strengthen international consensus in peace affairs. The creation of this group also aims to establish a greater cohesion and coordination in support of this process and it will be led by the State Ministry for Peace on behalf of the Afghan Government.
The presidential decree also stated that the State Ministry for Peace, in addition to its headship, is also leading the secretariat of the group.
Members of this group will consist of embassies of countries involved in the peace process, key donors to the Afghan peace process, as well as relevant international institutions.
According to the decree, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant government agencies are required to cooperate with the State Ministry for Peace. All government agencies must act in coordination with the State Ministry for Peace while dealing with international institutions and donors in connection with the peace process.
According to this decree, the State Ministry for Peace should report the establishment and work progress of this group to the office of president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
