Online Meeting of the State Minister for Peace with USIP’s Afghanistan and Central Asia Programs’ Director
Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, State Minister for Peace, met online with the director of Afghanistan and Central Asia Programs at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP).
Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi spoke about the role of the State Ministry for peace (SMP) in the peace process and referred to the initiatives and programs that the Ministry is pursuing in the field of peacebuilding.
Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, while thanking the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) for its readiness for technical cooperation in the Afghanistan peace process, said that the State Ministry for Peace seeks to strengthen its strategic institutional relationship with the Institute.
Mentioning that negotiations are only a part of the peace process, the State Minister for Peace stressed the importance of the role of international institutions in sharing international knowledge and lessons related to peacebuilding. He added that the ministry is interested in developing relations between the two institutions in the field of capacity building and taking advantage of existing opportunities.
He emphasized that the current momentum for peace in Afghanistan must be maintained and sufficiently exploited.
Scott Worden, director of Afghanistan and Central Asia Programs at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP), said the area of cooperation between the two institutions is wide and there are opportunities for cooperation in a variety of areas.
Mr. Worden expressed readiness to expand the U.S. Institute of Peace cooperation with the State Ministry for Peace.
