Residents and Youth of Herat Province Shared their Views with the Negotiating Team

The residents and youth of Herat province shared their views and suggestions about the peace process with Ghulam Farooq Majrooh, and Gen. Ayoub Ansari, members of the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, during the “Peace Dialogue” meeting.
In this meeting, the participants discussed human rights, education, reintegration of fighters, governance, freedom of expression, women and children’s rights, transitional justice, addressing war victims, and democracy in nine working groups. They shared the conclusion of their views and suggestions with the negotiation team members, as they also raised their questions.
Referring to the teachings of Islam about education and freedom of expression, Mr. Majrooh said that securing Afghan citizens’ basic rights guarantees a bright future in the country, and these rights cannot be ignored.
Regarding the protection of the Constitution, human rights and the rights of minorities, he said that the Constitution of Afghanistan as a national charter guarantees individual and social freedoms and the rights of citizens. He said if there is a need to amend it, its amendment’s mechanisms are also predicted in the Constitution.
Mr. Majrooh further said that the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is trying to reach a conclusion and end the current war in the country, considering political participation for a sustainable and inclusive peace that guarantees a bright future for Afghanistan.
After that, Gen. Ayoub Ansari, Member of the Negotiation Team, said that the team had worked on various mechanisms for the reintegration of fighters, securing the rights of victims and Shuhada (martyrs).
Stating that the security and defense forces are one of the basic pillars of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mr. Ansari said that maintaining and supporting these forces is an important issue in the peace negotiations and stressed particular attention in this regard.
