The negotiating team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan held a consultative meeting with the House of Elders (Meshran Jirga) of the National Assembly

Following the series of consultative meetings of the Negotiating Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan with different strata, a consultative meeting was held with members of the House of Elders of the National Assembly with the presence of Fazel Hadi Muslimyar, Speaker of the House of Elders, Mohammad Alam Izadyar, First Deputy, Mohammad Akbar Stanekzai, Second Deputy, Saleh Mohammad Lala Gul, Secretary, Mohammad Faisal Sami, Deputy Secretary, and Gulalai Akbari, member of the house of elders.
In this meeting, Fazel Hadi Muslimyar, Speaker of the House of Elders, while pointing to the importance of the peace process and the ongoing peace negotiations in Doha, said that Afghanistan is at an important stage and the people are hopeful for the negotiations.
The speaker of the house of elders added that the negotiating team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has a difficult job to do and the house of elders support them in this regard.  
In this meeting, members of the House of Elders shared their views and suggestions to the negotiating team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
They said that there will be lots of challenges in the way for bringing peace in the country but moving forward with full unity and unified stance will help the people to succeed in this process.
Referring to the escalation of war in recent days, members of the House of Elders said that the sacrifice of the Afghan people in the years-long war has made the need for peace clear to all the Afghans.
They also raised their questions about the Afghanistan peace negotiations process and the factors influencing it.  Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai, Head of the Negotiating Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, State Minister for Peace and member of the negotiating team, Mawlawi Ataullah Ludin, Sharifa Zurmati, Gholam Farooq Majroh, and Dr. Rasoul Talib, other members of the negotiating team, responded to the raised questions.
In the meeting, Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai, Head of the Negotiating Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, said that this delegation represents the fundamental position of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in a unified way. He added that the members of the team are also working to establish a ceasefire.
Mr. Stanekzai continued that the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has appeared united and the progress of any negotiation process requires the flexibility of the negotiating parties.
He thanked the house of elders for sharing their views and expressing their support, adding that this strengthens the strong will of the negotiating team in advancing their task.
Also, Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, State Minister for Peace and a member of the negotiating team, said at the meeting that under the guidance of the government leadership, the ministry will provide the basis for the Islamic Republic's negotiating team to report to the House of Elders of the National Assembly on a regular basis.
