The International Community Calls for an End to the Ongoing Violence in the Country

The second meeting for strengthening consensus in support of the Afghanistan peace process was held online by the Regional and International Affairs Commission of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), the State Ministry for Peace (SMP), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, State Minister for Peace and Member of the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai, Chief Negotiator of the Afghanistan Peace Negotiation Team, Abdullah Khenjani, Deputy Minister of Coordination, Policy and Strategy of the SMP, Mirwais Naab, Deputy Foreign Minister in Political Affairs, and ambassadors and representatives of several countries and international organizations cooperating in the Afghanistan peace process. During the meeting, regional and international consensus on the peace process was discussed.
At the beginning, Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, State Minister for Peace and Member of the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, emphasized that the support of partner countries to the peace process is important to move this process forward, and said that the regional consensus around the Afghanistan peace process is also essential.
He added that the stability in the region depends on peace in Afghanistan, stating that holding such meetings provide opportunity for exchanging views with the regional countries and the international community regarding the peace process.
Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), said that the regional and international consensus is indispensable for achieving peace in the country, and realizing the importance of this issue, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is working to attract regional and international cooperation.
Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai, Head of the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, referring to the progress of the peace negotiation process and the performance of the team, said that during the short break after the first round of the peace negotiations, consultative meetings were held with the people and different organizations in Afghanistan, in which all of them were demanding to preserve citizenship rights and the achievements of the past years, as well as an end to the violence in the country.
Mirwais Naab, Deputy Foreign Minister in Political Affairs, said at the meeting: “we are working to strengthen our diplomacy with the countries of the region and the Islamic world to gain their support for an immediate ceasefire in the country.” He added that the Islamic countries have stated in this regard that violence has no place in Islam.  
Concluding the meeting, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), expressed his gratitude for the participants' support for the peace efforts of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and said that an immediate ceasefire and an end to the violence, acceleration of the peace negotiations, Afghan leadership and ownership in the peace process, condemnation of the ongoing violence and the united voice of international partners in support of the peace process were some of the issues raised by the participants at the meeting.
Worth mentioning that the ambassadors and representatives of China, Britain, Turkey, India, France, the European Union, the United States, Norway, Qatar, Italy, Indonesia, the NATO civilian ambassador, the UNAMA representative and the representative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also addressed the meeting.
