Cooperation of civil society institutions in the Afghanistan peace process was discussed

The mechanism of cooperation and exchange of information was discussed at a joint meeting between members of the negotiating team, officials from the State Ministry for Peace, and representatives of civil society organizations.
During the meeting, Baryalay Hilali, secretary of the head of the negotiating team, said that efforts are being made to encompass the people in the peace process by involving civil society institutions in the peace process.
He said that the establishment of a mechanism for the participation of civil society in the peace process would pave the way for cooperation between civil society institutions and the structures leading the peace process.
He also called on civil society organizations to establish a comprehensive working mechanism to regulate their work with peace leading structures in which representatives of different segments of society are present.
Habiba Sarabi, a member of the negotiating team, expressed her gratitude to civil society organizations and representatives of the media for providing information on the need for a civil society participation mechanism in the peace process and called on civil society organizations to work on establishing a working group of civil society organizations for peace.
Ms. Sarabi asked the participants of the meeting to help the negotiating team in bringing the voice of the people to the negotiating table by creating this working group. She also pledged to establish a mechanism in which the negotiating team would be in touch with them. 
On the other hand, the representatives of civil society organizations and media organizations who were present at the meeting, emphasizing the importance of their cooperation with the negotiating team, made their suggestions to improve this mechanism.
They also discussed the participation of people in remote parts of the country in the peace process, the protection of freedom of speech and the cooperation that civil society and media institutions can have with the negotiating team.
The creation of a secretariat to coordinate meetings and joint work of civil society and media institutions was also discussed in this meeting.
