Consultative Meeting of Political Parties about the Current Status of the Peace Process
A consultative meeting of political parties on the current status of the peace process was held in the presence of Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, State Minister for Peace, and Dr. Alema, Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Civil Society of the State Ministry of Peace.
At the beginning of the meeting, Laila Jafari, Director of Political Structures and Civil Society Organizations of the SMP, briefed the meeting on the process of establishing the Political Parties Contact Committee.
After that, Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi emphasized the unity of the people and the parties and said that the unity of the political parties, despite different views, is in favor of the current sensitive situation in the country.
Mr. Naderi briefed the participants on the peace process and the Moscow and Istanbul meetings. He asked them to share their views on the recent developments in the peace process and the Doha negotiations with the State Ministry for Peace, so that their views would be shared with the leadership of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) and the Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
The State Minister for Peace called the political parties the representatives of democracy and appreciated their role in the peace process.
Members of the Political Parties Contact Committee then shared their views on the current peace process.
Emphasizing the unity between the political parties, they asked the State Ministry for Peace to convey the demands, opinions and suggestions of the political parties to the peace negotiation table and pay attention to these opinions.
Dr. Alema, Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Civil Society of the State Ministry for Peace, also spoke about the role of the Political Parties Contact Committee and asked them to be aware of the current peace process and to be a real voice of the people.
