Acting Minister of the State Ministry for Peace met with the Ambassador of Finland
Mr. Abdullah Khenjani, Acting Minister of the State Ministry for Peace and Deputy Minister for Coordination, Policy and Strategy, met with Pekka Kosonen, Ambassador of Finland to Afghanistan and Mr. Nelli Mikkola, Deputy Head of Mission of the Finnish Embassy in Kabul.
During the meeting, Mr. Khenjani thanked Finland for its cooperation in holding the Afghanistan 2020 Conference in Geneva and called its success a great achievement for the Afghan people.
The Acting Minister of the State Ministry for Peace, while discussing the Afghanistan peace negotiations in Doha, shed light on the role of the State Ministry for Peace in the peace process. He added that the ministry emphasizes transparency and mutual accountability.
Mr. Khenjani also referred to the concerns of the Afghan people about the unacceptable level of violence and targeted assassinations, and said that while the Afghanistan peace negotiations are going on, the government is emphasizing an end to the violence.
Mr. Pekka Kosonen, Finnish Ambassador to Kabul, said that holding the Geneva conference during the limitations of COVID-19 pandemic, shows the international community's support for Afghanistan.
He further stated that the international community, especially Finland, wants an end to the ongoing violence and war in Afghanistan and supports the current peace process.
