Abdul Salam Rahimy: the people of Afghanistan calls for a ceasefire

The State Minister for Peace Abdul Salam Rahimy in the paper launch program of the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) said that the people of Afghanistan calls for a ceasefire, not a reduction in violence.
The Special Representative of the President and State Minister for Peace further stated that the stability of the current government system is amongst the fundamental demands of the people of Afghanistan.
He added that the peace negotiating team of the government is ready.
Mr. Rahimy also said that the State Ministry for Peace (SMP) is working towards creating, maintaining and strengthening a national consensus for peace on the district and provincial levels. He said that SMP maintains a constant dialogue with the public and civil society towards a national dialogue on peace.
The State Minister for Peace also said that the Afghan negotiating team acknowledges the presence of women in the negotiating team, in addition to representation of the whole of Afghanistan.
Pointing to the critical role of Pakistan and the government information from the ongoing peace talks in Qatar, he said no bold improvement is seen in the process.
The Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) launched its recent research paper titled “Political Settlement and Post-Conflict Order in Afghanistan People’s Views”.
