Biography of Abdul Matin Bek, Member of the Peace Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan

Abdul Matin Beyk is the Senior Advisor to the President on Political and Public Affairs. Prior to his appointment, he served as Chairman of the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG), Provincial Deputy of Nation-al Security Directorate, Deputy of Finance and Administration in the Independent Directorate of Local Govern-ance, and advisor to the Ministry of Interior Affairs.
In recent years, he has been at the leadership level of the civil and security sectors of the government, focusing on the provinces, districts and villages of the country, he has gained a deep understanding of the diversity of Afghan society and plays a key role in holding national programs to strengthen the foundations of the system. Leading the local section of Peace Advisory Jirga, facilitating elections in cities and districts, facilitating presiden-tial and parliamentary elections, and managing the ceasefire and violence reduction week were some of his as-signments. His belief in the presence of people with different background in the community management has resulted in a large presence of young people at the local government level as well as a significant presence of women at the leadership level of provincial administrations (provincial deputies, mayors, district governors and provincial heads).
His achievements in bringing a fundamental change in local governance, including the drafting of the Local Councils Law, the Municipalities Law and Local Governance Policy, and the development of dozens of other reg-ulations and scope of works, the holding of dozens of scientific seminars and national conferences between local and central government officials, has turned him as one of the leading local government specialists in the country.
His performance during his tenure has been repeatedly praised by the leadership of the government and various sections of society by awarding medals and certificates of appreciation.
Abdul Matin Bek was born in 1987 in Takhar province and holds a bachelor's degree from Delhi University and a master's degree in political science from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
